Through the UNDP Student Ambassadors Programme, I attended the South Sudan Agriculture Conference 2026 at Gold Orchid in Juba.

The conference was a valuable opportunity to learn more about agriculture in South Sudan and understand how important the sector is to the country’s future. It brought together different stakeholders, including government institutions, development partners, youth, women, investors, and organizations working to support agricultural growth and transformation.

During the event, we learned about key areas shaping agriculture in South Sudan, including innovative technologies for improving productivity, youth participation in agricultural transformation, sustainable financing, agribusiness trade, and investment opportunities.

It was a meaningful experience because agriculture is not only about food production. It is also connected to entrepreneurship, technology, employment, climate-smart solutions, community resilience, and long-term economic growth.

As a young person and creative technologist, attending this conference helped me see how development conversations are connected across different sectors. It also reminded me that young people have an important role to play in learning, engaging, and contributing to South Sudan’s future.

The experience was nice, informative, and inspiring. It gave me a broader understanding of agriculture in South Sudan and the opportunities that exist when young people are included in national development spaces.
